Sylhet also known as Jalalabad, is a metropolitan city in northeastern Bangladesh. It is the administrative seat of Sylhet Division. The city is located on the right bank of the Surma River in northeastern Bengal. It has a subtropical climate and lush highland terrain. The city has a population of more than 479,837 residents. Sylhet is one of Bangladesh's most important spiritual and cultural centers. The city's dargahs draw several thousand devotees each year.
One of the most picturesque and archeologically rich regions in South Asia, is the Sylhet Division. Its bourgeoning economy has become a part of the attractions of the region, as landscapes are filled with fragrant orange and pineapple gardens and breathtaking tea plantations. Many Sylhet community members have found work and residence abroad, particularly in the United Kingdom and have been using remittances to fund projects and industries within the Sylhet Division, allowing the export industry and foreign investment sectors to grow.
This quaint little town is located 265 km northeast of Dhaka. This is the ‘Tea Center’ of Bangladesh. Main attractions are the tropical forest of Lawacharra, tribal villages of the Manipuri and Khashia, and the surrounding Tea Gardens covering hilly terrain.
ITINERARY OF SYLHET - SRIMANGAL TOUR
Day – 01
Very early in the morning after breakfast leave Dhaka by reserved a/c vehicle for Sylhet. Upon arrival you will be transferred to the hotel. After check-in and lunch we will make arrangement to visit the Holy Shrine of Muslim Saints. The accompanying guide will take you on sightseeing tour of Sylhet town after visiting the Dargah if time permits. After while have dinner and stay overnight at Sylhet town.
Day – 02
After breakfast start for full day excursion to Tamabil and Jaflong. Situated amidst a splendid landscape Tamabil is a border outpost on the Sylhet-Shillong road about 55 km from Sylhet town. Glimpses of the waterfalls across the border from Tamabil add to the enchanting views of the hilly area. After lunch we will visit Jaflong one of the most attractive tourist spots in Sylhet division of Bangladesh. Jaflong watery beauty is famous for its stone collections. It is a beautiful spot amidst tea gardens. In the afternoon drive to Srimongal for dinner and overnight stay.
Day – 03
After breakfast drive for approximately two hours to the Madhobkunda waterfall. Surrounded by large tea estates, and decorated with water lilies, this spot is a favorite among locals as well as visitors from afar. The rubber and betel leaf and lemon plantations from a mosaic for greens, tropical for this rolling landscape. Drive back to Srimongal – also known as the ‘land of two leaves and bud’, a synonym for tea gardens and the large quantities of tea produced here. You can watch tea the processing at the tea Research Institute. After evening we return to our hotel/resort for dinner and overnight stay at Srimongal.
Day – 04
After breakfast we start for a rewarding wildlife trek through the nearby Lawacharra National Park. This is the best time to observe the abundant and diverse wildlife. As one of the last remaining tropical rainforests of Bangladesh, the Lawacharra forest is home to a large variety of rare and endangered species, the most prominent of which are the Hoolock Gibbons উল্লুক. The small tract of dense forests is heaven for birdwatchers, naturalists and adventure seekers alike. After lunch drive for approximately two hours to the Madhobkunda waterfall. Surrounded by large tea estates and decorated with water lilies, this spot is a favorite among locals as well as visitors from afar. Day – 05
Full day until lunch will be free for tourists to explore this quaint little town. After lunch we will drive back to Dhaka by reserved a/c vehicle 04 hours’ drive from Srimongal.
